about Vicent Ortí

Torrent (Valencia), 1947

Ortí works from intuition, does not prepare any previous sketches and gets carried away by touch and perceptions. In fact, he insists on the need to touch his works and perceive with the touch subtle details that are not well appreciated: undulations, protuberances, small details, almost imperceptible to the naked eye. His works seek spiritual transcendence with a solitary dialogue with matter, creations have a strong erotic content that works from memory, transferring body shapes to marble and iron, also referring to primitive African art. The erotic evocation is accentuated in its irons, in the collection of warriors. A spontaneous primitivism. A treatment of the material that reminds us of Julio González and other artists.
