Art Madrid'26 – Ardan Özmenoğlu

Ardan Özmenoğlu

Ankara, 1979

Özmenoğlu’s works are known for revolutionizing the expressions and imagery of Turkish and international popular culture. Especially through sticky notes, neon, and glass artworks, she develops a distinctive language by using the material together with the meaning of its symbolic charge, overlapping cultural history and everyday life. In our era defined by the speed of communication and technology, and characterized by unstable grounds and abundant references and signs, Özmenoğlu creates a unique line of contemporary art in Turkey through her slalom across imagery. Many of her works are inspired by her own biography, but they also constitute a universal example of the artistic exploration of national and cultural identity, individuality, and collective visual memory.
