Art Madrid'24 – Jaime Abaurre

Jaime Abaurre

Sevilla, 1987

Spanish artist, designer, painter and sculptor of international renown, he has lived in cities such as Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and London, and holds a degree in Advertising from The University of Wales.

Grandson of the architect and designer Ricardo Abaurre Herreros de Tejada and son of the photographer Jose Joaquín Abaurre. Although his work became popular thanks to his spontaneity in drawing, Jaime Abaurre has mastered the techniques of pottery, as can be seen in some of his latest exhibitions or his collections of sculptural works on the potter's wheel or wood. Flat sculptures, silhouettes, one-piece wood or steel casts, sculptures conceived to be hung or anchored to a fixed surface. Minimalist, he uses simplicity as his main language, the reduction of drawing to its simplest form. His work starts from the most basic drawing and uses stains of colour to complete his most recent work.
