Art Madrid'26 – Jim Rattenbury

Jim Rattenbury

Reino Unido, 1974

Jim Rattenbury (British, b.1947) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, painting, and installation. His creative process begins with the materials themselves, often natural or chemically altered, which guide the evolution of each piece. Rather than starting with a fixed idea, Rattenbury allows the work to emerge organically, embracing experimentation and the element of surprise. Play and curiosity are central to his practice, driving him to explore questions like: “What would happen if…?” His references span from ancient archaeology to astrophysics, and his aim is to create pieces that resonate with the viewer through a sense of quiet mystery and poetic tension.
