Art Madrid'24 – Markus Fräger

Markus Fräger

Hamm (Alemania), 1979

Markus Fräger learned graphic art techniques as well as how to draw from life in the studio of his well-known father Wolfgang Fräger. Markus Fräger’s paintings appear like photographic snapshots. They show people in everyday situations and they are involved in conversations or absorbed in themselves. His study of art history provided him with sound knowledge of traditional techniques of painting, employing for example dramatic chiaroscuro contrasts familiar from the paintings of Caravaggio. The intensity with which Fräger enables insights into the deepest depths of the depicted persons is peerless in contemporary painting and is founded on his particular manner of painterly staging. His paintings have been exhibited mainly in Germany, Luxemburg and France.
