He is one of the main representatives of Spanish Informalism and a member of the El Paso group (Madrid). He has received important appointments: Member of the Board of Directors of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Madrid 1983-1986, Member of the Advisory Council of the Directorate General of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture, Madrid 1981-1982 and 1983-84, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Museo Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo, Madrid 1983 and Member of the Board of Directors of the Patrimonio Nacional, Madrid 1984-1990. He has participated in countless solo and group exhibitions. About the individual ones, several have been retrospectives, among others: Museo Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo, Madrid 1971 and in the Salas del Ministerio de Cultura, de la Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid. He has held several workshops and given countless lectures in various countries in Europe and America. He has also taken part in juries for international prizes and biennials. He also has received several prizes and distinctions, among them: Golden Palette at the International Painting Festival, Cagnes-Sur-Mer, 1969 - Grand Prize at the Biennial of Sao Paulo, Brazil 1971. The ""Iberian Daily Sun"" awarded him the ""Golden Sun"" in 1972, Grand Prize at the International Triennial of Painting, Sofia 1982, National Prize for Plastic Arts, Madrid 1982.
