Art Madrid'24 – Violeta Maya Aguirre

Violeta Maya Aguirre

Madrid, 1991

Studied BA Interaction and Moving Image at Central Saint Martins, London (2011 - 2015). She has graduated with honours and won the Big White Wall award for Winsor & Newton and Cass Art. She has participated in national and international fairs and exhibitions such as Estampa 2021, Flecha, London or Brussels, with notable success. Violeta's experience in interactive design has allowed her to realise the potential of installations to connect the public with the present moment and with others, inviting the public to find their inner creativity. Her aim is to break down the barrier between the artist and the audience, with the participation of the viewer completing the pieces. For example, Maya's installations often invite the audience to film videos, so that the final piece is actually on their phones. This concept allows the viewer's individual perspective to be incorporated into the work, thus resisting the one-way dynamic of the artist as speaker and the audience as passive recipient.
