Art Madrid'24 – Galerie Barrou Planquart

Galerie Barrou Planquart

Montlignon, Francia

It was in October 2010 that Virginie Barrou Planquart created in Paris the gallery that bears her name. Dedicated to contemporary artworks, the gallery supports and promotes emerging or established, French or foreign artists who all have a strong and singular identity and who, each in their language, approach the spectator with freshness and immediacy. Finding its cohesion in the pleasure provided by their works as well as in their universalist reflections, the gallery makes a point of gathering and promoting urban and neo-pop artists which embrace myths of mass culture to question our collective history and rethink our society’s current data. Advocating a « positive » esthetic, the gallery also welcomes ludic works, filled with strange, mute and familiar stories or more focused on chromatic searches and visual effect. Having known how to make of her gallery a relevant place of sharing and showcasing, Virginie Barrou Planquart organizes exhibitions and participates in numerous international fairs (New York, Miami, Basel, London, Brussels, Madrid and Hong-Kong). She is constantly deepening her understanding of pop culture’s growing influence over the development of contemporary art, its extent, its exegesis and its diverse modes of transposition.
