Soraya Cartategui is a gallery specialised in contemporary painting since 2006. Soraya Cartategui, director and owner of the gallery, began her career as a gallery owner in contemporary Latin American art in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before opening its first gallery in the neighbourhood of Chelsea, New York in 1994. This first gallery specialised in conceptual art and performances of emerging artists.
After four exciting years focused on new talents in the big apple, Soraya settled in Madrid to devote herself to her passion and specialty: Dutch and Flemish art of the 16th and 17th centuries. She has been a pioneer in the introduction of the Dutch Golden Age in the Spanish market. Currently, it is a reference for collectors, both private and public.
During this time, the gallery has curated and organised collections and private foundations focused on the concept of ""cross-collecting"" or weaving art from all media and periods to create a personal and intimate dialogue between works and objects. The main gallery is located in Madrid, but also has headquarters in Manhattan, New York.
