Dirk Salz

Bochum (Alemania), 1962

The works of Dirk Salz contain geometrically formed structures that lie hidden beneath their surfaces. These are extremely bright, sealed with varnish on the outside, moving both the environment and the viewer to their interiors. The artist distributes a certain number of layers of epoxy resin enriched with paint pigments on multiplex plates. What the artist wants is to encourage, even force the viewer to look closer, an effect that he achieves thanks to his technique. Then we discover the composition as well as the colours of the piece. At first glance, it is difficult to say which lines, shapes and depth levels are part of the work and which are mere reflections. To be able to distinguish it you need to move, seeing the piece from different angles and distances.
