Léo Caillard

París (Francia), 1985

Léo Caillard lives and works in Paris. After graduating from the Ecole des Gobelins in 2008, he studied art history and practiced photography, initially with an interest in 3D and new media. Since his debut in 2009, he has been questioning our relationship with time and how we place our contemporary era at the heart of history.

Léo Caillard revolutionizes the classical statuary and plays with our relationship with time. Old material and subject matter, but modern treatment: Caillard breaks the codes to create new ones. Therein lies the uniqueness of his work. He gives life and flesh to marbles that, while some were known to the general public, were of interest mainly to museum-going aesthetes. This intriguing twist invites the viewer to wonder about the contradictions of our society in its relationship with the image and brings us closer to these statues, witnesses of models of the past.
