about the artist's works

Marta Beltrán explores the expansion of drawing, from the daily record in small format, to the large format and monumental composition. The main motivation is the representation of the female figure as an expression of unconscious and emotional contents. From the identification with fiction cinema made by women, or that has them as protagonists, it intends to approach the construction of a subjective narrative. The artist appropriates frames of films that revolve around concepts such as childhood and adolescence, motherhood, friendship, family ties between women and identity, viewed from an angle that observes their contradictions. Draw in black and white with Chinese ink — also with acrylic — on paper. Previously, I applied the colour with oil on paper and cloth in different formats. She has worked photography, video performance, fanzine and installation.
