about Diego Pujal
Buenos Aires (Argentina), 1971
Diego Pujal is an Argentinian artist living in Barcelona whose painting explores the codes of pictorial language and confronts us with the enigma of shaping meaning. From some vague position or a certain representative limb we are presented with a territory freed from imposed definitions, something in a state of inertia and that seduces us from its enigmatic aspect. It is this seduction that opens the door to intervene in what we are observing and invites us to mobilize those internal mechanisms that make up our capacity to configure symbologies, to interweave relationships and to give life to a specific referent.
He has received several awards, among them the Tapiró Painting Prize of the Museu d’Art Modern of the Diputació de Tarragona, the award of the Convocation of Plastic Arts and Photography of the Provincial Delegation of Alicante and the scholarship of residence in Hangar Center of Producció i Recerca d’Arts Visuals de Barcelona. The Focus Abengoa Foundation of Seville, the Museu d’Art Modern de Tarragona or Piramidón, Centre d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona are some of the collections that possess his work.
