about Manuel Salinas
Manuel Salinas, recently deceased, has been one of the most prominent artists within Spanish abstraction, with great relevance within the Andalusian art scene and active since the sixties. His contribution to painting has focused on the experience of color, with the invention of its characteristic "chromatic architectures". The key to his painting lies in a very intuitive way of reconciling gesture, construction, freedom and order and in his sensation of color, which he knows how to modulate, qualify and nuance in a unique way. In his work there is a close relationship between painting and workshop, which already belongs to the sentimental imaginary of the many who have frequented him in recent decades. His work can be seen in large institutions, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, participating in turn in more than eighty international exhibitions.
