Art Madrid'24 – David Lechuga

David Lechuga

Madrid, 1950

The sculptor David Lechuga was born in Madrid, the city where he educated at the Applied Arts School and the Círculo de Bellas Artes. He was granted several scholarships, among which we might highlight the Scholarship of the Hoger Instituut Voor Schon-Kunsten, in Belgium. David Lechuga is a well-known artist because of his polychromatic sculptures inspired by the cubism and the surrealism. He carves any living body and groups of anthropomorphic bodies to represent mythological and usual scenes, with references to the primitive African art. He has made numerous exhibitions, both solo and collective, in different art galleries and museums, among them the Reina Sofía Museum of the Art Contemporary City Council Museum.
