Art Madrid'26 – Martín Mas

Martín Mas

Uruguay, 1974

Martín Mas, born in Uruguay in 1974 and based in Palma de Mallorca since 2004, focuses his practice on sculpture, standing out for his large-format pieces in aluminum and stainless steel in vibrant colors. In recent years, he has deepened his exploration of wood and its main derivatives, such as paper and charcoal. His work also encompasses painting, drawing, and installations, developing a contemporary and minimalist visual language centered on the materiality of elements and their treatment. He combines organic forms with wall-mounted objects that function as paintings.

With a clear and direct style, Mas explores a universal language of stains and abstract forms, predominantly monochromatic, and textures that range from rough and coarse to smooth and organic. In a dialogue between the ancestral and the contemporary, he employs artisanal techniques that merge the primitive with a current visual language, integrating sculpture, painting as object, and relief drawing.
