Art Madrid'26 – Oliver Johnson

Oliver Johnson
Reino Unido, 1972
Oliver Johnson was born in 1972 in Luton (United Kingdom) and has lived in Valencia since 1995. He studied Fine Arts at Kingston University in London and has developed an artistic career focused on abstract painting, exploring the interaction between color, light and form.
For Johnson, painting is a process of investigation and experimentation. His works are developed within a specific set of self-imposed rules, exploring exceptional qualities such as light, translucency, luminosity, rhythm and fluid reflections. Through this approach, he seeks to create pieces that are more than the sum of their parts, inviting viewers into a deep and contemplative visual experience.
He has presented his work in major international spaces, including the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in Valencia, Galería Pilar Parra in Madrid and Galería La Nave in Valencia. His work has been recognized with awards such as the First Prize at the III María Isabel Comenge Biennial in 2022, endowed with 15,000 euros, for his piece Gross Nussknacker from the Cloud Geometry series. This work was acquired by the Juan José Castellano Comenge Foundation for its future permanent collection.
