Art Madrid'23 – Aurora Vigil-Escalera

Aurora Vigil-Escalera
Gijón, España
Programa General A1
In 2015 Aurora Vigil-Escalera inaugurated a brand new project that was completyl her own after 30 years working in her family's art gallery Van Dyck. Although it began as a continuation, maintaining the same levels of demand and quality, the new space has become, through Aurora's desire and tenacity, into a place of innovation and research in constant modernization to adapt to the personal concerns of its director and the continuous changes of the artworld.
The gallery maintains the cult of its predecessor to the great avant-garde artists; representing established teachers such as Luis Gordillo, Juan Genovés, Luis Feito, Francisco Farreras or Chema Madoz. And it is precisely this legitimacy that offers support and endorsement to bet on and promote the work of mid-career artists and young talents of contemporary art, who find in this gallery their first professional opportunity in the art world.
Through these new generations, Aurora Vigil-Escalera is allowed to explore a new, more contemporary, vindictive and conceptual path, with an eye on the main national and international fairs and a program distributed between its headquarters in Gijón, a private showroom in Madrid and a growing online presence.
