STARS’ POWDER AND BEACH SAND
The work of Isabel Valdecasas is the result of a patient and a slow gathering of pieces of life that she captures in her work. Although she began her pictorial career in figurative art, she later began to explore the expressive power of abstraction, with strong plasticity and the use of real materials extracted from the places she visited. In this way, her paintings are a summarised sample of those elements that unite us with our environment and an exercise of reconstruction of humankind's relationship with the earth.
From her personal experience in the trips she makes, Isabel rescues the sensations, smells, colours and experiences of each place to translate them into works that recreate an emotional connection with the earth. Her paintings present as an explosion of materials that remind us of natural textures and invite us to reflect on how we interact with the landscape, how we feed on it, walk through it, take advantage of it and inhabit it while losing, in the process, part of the consciousness of being us, also, an element of that same nature that we occupy.
