about Fèlix Coll
Palma de Mallorca, 1985
My work is undergoing constant technical evolution and is mainly developed through painting and drawing. I feel comfortable expressing myself in those two languages. I like painting and I mainly regard myself as a painter. It is by means of this language that I feel able to tell stories reflecting my daily life, stories that are my pretext to develop my work. These stories usually originate in my own experiences, some of them very significant. My last works try to be gradually simpler and more intense. The use of bright and fluorescent colours confers joy to the paintings without being trivial. With few brush strokes and trying to stay away from virtuosity, I attempt to forge the work and invite onlookers to “come in” and take part of it, to make this experience their own.
