about Sergio de la Flora

Torrejón de Ardoz, 1990

A visual artist with a Diploma in Figurative Art from the Drawing and Painting Program at the prestigious Barcelona Academy of Art, he has held solo exhibitions in Madrid and Barcelona, and his work has also been shown in the United States through JPA Gallery and The Frank Gallery. Among his awards is the Best in Show at the Art Bravo Contest at ArtServe Gallery (Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA).

There are two key moments in his beginnings as an artist. The first took place during his adolescence, when he entered the world of graffiti, painting on streets, trains and metro cars. The second occurred at the age of 27, when he moved to London and felt the need to express his thoughts and emotions through drawing and painting.

For Sergio de la Flora, art is the most important element in the history of civilization—a way of leaving a legacy for future generations and bearing witness to a specific era or moment. His works carry a strong social dimension, aiming to tell a story and encourage the viewer to connect with other realities, provoking some kind of reaction.
