about Reload
Barcelona, 1972
Reload is a visual artist and performer whose extensive international career challenges linear art chronologies, proposing an aesthetic where past and future meet with poetic and visual force. His work focuses on hand-carved marble, a material with which he establishes a deep relationship, enriched by his own visual language, known as retrofuturistic art: a fusion between the traditional sculptural canon and contemporary codes drawn from popular culture, cinema, rock music and personalised universes. Far from a purely formalist vision, Reload proposes an intelligent and humorous reinterpretation of classical iconographies, demystifying the great myths of Western art and introducing them into the flow of popular culture. This critical operation, sustained by a visual poetics as precise as it is magnetic, transcends traditional sculpture to create an expanded aesthetic experience that invites emotion, reflection and play. The power of Reload's imagery lies in the hybridisation between the eternal and the ephemeral, the cultured and the popular, the canonical and the countercultural. Each work is a multifaceted piece, a trigger for multiple meanings where beauty coexists with provocation, and where history is rewritten from a critical and contemporary subjectivity. Materialised in fine marble, these pieces fuse sculptural tradition with elements of pop culture, generating a renewed dialogue that revitalises artistic imagination from a fresh and vibrant perspective. His work has been exhibited in museums, foundations, international fairs and public spaces in Europe, Asia and Russia, forming part of important institutional and private collections. Reload has consolidated his position with impressive solo exhibitions, including those presented at the Archena Museum, as well as at international fairs such as SWAB Barcelona, Art Taipei, Estampa and Art Madrid.
