FALSE THEORY ABOUT BEAUTY

The gallery Moret Art has just opened in its space of A Coruña the exhibition “False Theory About Beauty”, by the artist Lino Lago, which brings together works of outstanding series such as "Painting on painting" and "Attacks" as well as pieces of the new and suggestive series "Fake abstract". In all of them, the classic and the contemporary establish a dialogue born from a critique and a commitment of Lago with the current reality. The excellent technique is simply the starting point of a painting inspired by the society of our days with a great conceptual load.
The series "Fake abstract", the most recent of his production, includes pieces in which Lago plays with the characteristic elements of contemporary painting: line and colour, so that under bright and flat colours spots, through empty strokes, classic portraits of artists such as Dominique Ingres or Joseph Karl Stieler can be guessed.
In his "Paintings on painting", in an act of "desacralisation" of iconic works of art history, he dares to intervene some masterpieces by greatest artists such as José de Ribera or François Gerard with a layer of flat and intense colour that strongly contrasts with the realism of the iconic works that Lago reproduces and mimics in a surprising way.
