about Fabian Treiber
Ludwigsburg, 1986
Fabian Treiber’s painterly practice has its roots in the figurative tradition, yet it occupies an undefined space between abstraction and figuration. Highly personal and technically refined, Treiber constantly seeks to expand the viewer’s possibilities for experiencing pictorial space. Although individual paintings often contain recurring fragments, the central theme of Treiber’s work can be found in the very process of creation and in the dialogue between the artist and his work. From the first sketches onward, his perceptions respond directly on the canvas. Treiber’s multilayered works become physical encounters that exist at the margins of the traditional definition of the genre.
His work is included in collections such as the Graphische Sammlung der Stadt Esslingen a.N.; Graphothek der neuen Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart; Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart; Kunstsammlung Schloss Dagstuhl, Wadern; Kunstsammlung der Staatlichen Akademie der bildenden Künste, Stuttgart; Sammlung Karin Abt-Straubinger, Stuttgart; and the Bech Risvig Collection, Silkeborg, Denmark.
