about Dave Cooper
Canadá, 1967
Dave Cooper began his career in the 1990s creating underground comics for Fantagraphics Books, where he stood out with the series Weasel, from which the psychoerotic graphic novel Ripple, introduced by David Cronenberg, later emerged. After this period, he focused on oil painting, exhibiting in galleries in Los Angeles and New York and receiving retrospectives in Angoulême and Paris. In 2008, he made a successful move into animation, with Nickelodeon and Teletoon/BBC producing his series Pig Goat Banana Cricket and The Bagel and Becky Show. His adult short film The Absence of Eddy Table premiered to great acclaim in 2016. Since 2017, he has returned to painting and completed major commissions, including a four-meter homage to Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights for Colección Solo. In 2019, a 400-page retrospective of his work was published, and in 2022 his short film Squash was selected at international festivals. In 2024, he presented his largest exhibition to date in Paris at Galerie Daniel Maghen.
