SHAPE AND COLOUR
SPECIAL ART MADRID'18
Even when an artwork is conceived from the abstraction, that ethereal and emotional idea must be reflected on a physical support. This conversion uses form and colour to materialise the concepts, the sensations, the images that enrich our personal universe and that are very difficult to convey through figurativism. Colours and shapes without definition are precisely the best way to transmit that indeterminate and voluble amalgam of ideas that accompany us as individuals and that sometimes it is better to represent without anything being recognisable, without anything obstructing a direct and disembodied apprehension of the what is meant.
The connection of form and colour with abstraction is the backbone of the work of the nine artists selected for this exhibition, all of them participants in the last edition of Art Madrid. Each of these authors has its own way of interpreting the link between form and colour, some combining geometry and volumes, others enhancing the strength of light and others playing with space and atmosphere.
