about Antonio Barahona

Sevilla, 1984

Antonio Barahona (Seville, 1984) trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts Santa Isabel de Hungría and completed an Erasmus scholarship at the Pietro Vannucci Art Foundation in Perugia. He graduated in Painting in 2008 and later continued his studies through the Francisco de Goya Chair at Caja Ávila, taught by Antonio López García. In 2010 he was selected by the Antonio Gala Foundation, where he developed his project Costumbrismo andaluz, a contemporary exploration of Andalusian identity. He continued refining his practice with renowned artists such as Golucho, Lacomba and García Ibañez. In 2014 he took part in the Iniciarte program, marking a turning point toward a more open, research-based approach to painting. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including First Prize at the International Painting Competition Homage to Rafael Zabaleta (2016), First Prize at the International Painting Competition Ciudad de Álora (2014), and selection for the BP Portrait Award in London (2012). He has held solo exhibitions in Barcelona, León and Seville, consolidating a career focused on the evolution of landscape and figurative tradition.
