about María Ortega Estepa

María Ortega Estepa develops her work in different media with a work closely linked to the social sphere. She has made more than twenty individual exhibitions including: La Caja China Gallery, Luisa Pita Gallery, Sala Iniciarte Córdoba thanks to a production grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía, Mecánica Gallery, Neilson Gallery gallery Carmen del Campo and internationally at the Trindade Gallery in Porto and Most, in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Among the many prizes she obtains, the following stand out: the MalagaCrea Special Mention that leads her to exhibit collectively at the CAC Málaga, the Arte en Vivo Art Award from DKV Arte y Salud, Prize-Acquisition at the Plastic Arts Competition of the Junta de Andalucía DESENCAJA , Prize-acquisition of the UNIA Painting contest and finalist in the ODONE Prize for Plastic Arts of DKV Arte y Salud. Finalist in the XXIII Contest of Drawing Gregorio Prieto, taking her to exhibit collectively and in Invisible Pedagogies and Fundación Repsol in collaboration with MATADERO MAD.

The ability to work with various materials and the sensitivity to fragment them causes a set of signals entering into compositions full of vegetation, darkness and light, in which the extraordinary use and handling of colour together with the various techniques of paper, oil, acrylic, cardboard, dry leaves, enamels, etc., reveals the artist's search through an intimate landscape that shows her way of understanding life and art. María Ortega Estepa develops her work in different media and is closely linked to the social field. Since 2012 she teaches courses in Art and Social Intervention in different Universities of Andalusia.
