Zamora, 1959

He studied Engineering and Philosophy, which he left in order to dedicate himself to the arts. He began printmaking as a self-taught artist, later joining the workshop of master printmaker Theo Dietrich in Madrid and the National School of Graphic Arts. In 1982 he founded his own printmaking studio, and in 1986 the art magazine CYAN. In 1989 he created the graphic art publishing house M más M Ediciones, and in 1990 the printmaking and poetry magazine Estación Central. He was awarded a grant at the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome for the 1996–1997 academic year. He founded the Estación Central Gallery and its namesake publishing house. He has collaborated with workshops in Italy, France, Germany and Portugal, and has taught printmaking in various art centers such as the Andalusian Center for Serial Art, Fundación CIEC, Centro de las Artes de Alcorcón, Spanish Center for Graphic Art, the 1st Almería Biennial, Kulturwerkstatt HAUS 10 in Munich, Casa del Artista in Costa Rica and the Cervantes Institute in Tangier, among others. He currently directs the Spanish Center for Graphic Art and the Ars Eria Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultural development in the “España Vaciada” (Empty Spain).
