about Tadanori Yamaguchi

Osaka, 1970

Tadanori Yamaguchi (Osaka, 1970) engages in a profound dialogue with nature, his surroundings, and the materials he works with. Emphasizing solitude during his creative process, he delves inward to understand his artistic concerns, transforming his tactile and visual experiences into material form, where both emerge transformed.

Yamaguchi invites spectators to explore his works tactilely, rejecting the traditional prohibition against touch in exhibitions. This interaction allows viewers to share the artist’s process and energy, creating a dynamic exchange. His philosophy is encapsulated in the term hatsuru, advocating for the coexistence of opposites, much like the blend of Japanese and Western influences in his work.

He has served as a jury member for the Princess of Asturias Arts Awards and exhibited in museums and institutions in Kyoto, Asturias, Madrid, and Gijón, among others. His works are featured in prominent collections, parks, and public spaces across Spain and Japan.
