about Juan Olivares

Catarroja (Valencia), 1973

The painter Juan Olivares has a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of San Carlos of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In 2002, the Ministry of Culture granted him the Visual Arts Scholarship at the Spanish School of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris and two years later he was awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Plastic Arts Scholarship at the Academy of Rome, the city that deeply marks him and the one who travels constantly. All his work forms a poetic fabric that questions the formal limits of the pictorial and its relationship with the space it inhabits. Support, surface and space in a continuous review. The idea of transience, the passing of time, the emotional trace that some experiences leave us, uncertainty, chance and discovery are present in all his works.

Olivares has made more than twenty individual exhibitions in different galleries of contemporary art in Spain and Italy. He has participated in different national and international exhibitions in New York, Brussels, Geneva, Paris and Rome. As well as in international fairs: ARCO Madrid, ARTE SANTANDER, ART MARBELLA, ARTISSIMA Turin, MIART Milan, ART COLOGNE Cologne, SHANGHAI ART FAIR, ART LISBON, MACO Mexico, PULSE MIAMI and PINTA LONDON. His works are part of institutional and private collections, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Bancaja Foundation, the Savings Bank of the Mediterranean. Bank of Madrid. L Oréal Collection, Banco Sabadell Collection, Odor Visual Collection, DKV Collection, Cañada Blanch Foundation, Hortensia Herrero Foundation or Juan José Castellano Comenge Foundation, among others.
