about Marcos Juncal

Pontevedra, 1975

Specialized in sculpture, my work moves through multiple ways of articulating a methodology rooted in research on modern anthropology and sociology, through which I aim to offer a reflection of life as I observe and perceive it. In this sense, I am driven by the fleeting trace of the present moment. That is, I open myself to a process that reveals the roots of the society surrounding me through the objects that inherently define it, with the intention of beginning a journey from the eternal question: Where do we come from? as well as How do we interact within our popular culture? This leads us to consider popular culture as essential to understanding my creative process, since, as an “observer” of circumstance, I discover my strong social commitment by identifying the factors that currently drive the collective.
