about Maxim Wakultschik

Düsseldorf, 1973

Maxim Wakultschik (Minsk, Belarus, 1973) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany. His work is defined by its exploration of the boundaries between painting, object and sculpture, merging traditional techniques with unconventional materials such as wooden sticks. Through complexity and illusion, he constructs apparent realities that challenge viewers to look beyond, creating three-dimensional portraits that transform perception.

From an early age, he showed an interest in the arts, studying at the Belarusian Art Lyceum between 1984 and 1991, and later at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under renowned professors. Wakultschik focuses his practice on the human portrait, represented as painting, object or relief, combining photorealistic painting on panels with materials such as wood, sticks and plexiglass, prompting a deep reflection on perception and reality.
